India is home to 22 official languages, hundreds of dialects, six classical dance forms, and a civilisation that spans five millennia. Yet the Western image of India often reduces this extraordinary plurality to a handful of stereotypes.

GIF’s intercultural exchange programme exists to widen this lens — and to build the mutual understanding that underpins every successful business partnership, research collaboration, and policy dialogue. Culture is not a footnote to our work. It is the foundation.

What this looks like in practice: Cultural dialogue evenings and exhibitions in German cities. Collaboration with Indian cultural institutions and diaspora organisations. Exchange programmes connecting civil society actors, artists, and educators from both countries. Digital content that showcases India’s regional diversity, linguistic richness, and contemporary cultural landscape.
